What Sums Up Your Style?

This outfit is by no means new to Forever Styling, with all of the pieces being featured many times, but this time they've been pulled together into one outfit, which I feel, showcases my style!

I love glam, statement necklaces, power jackets and of course glitz but at the same time I can't deny my love for my beaten up converse and classic Levi's, the epitome of summer dressing but transitional too. They hold as firm favourites in my wardrobe and will be bought out time and time again!

What pieces sum up your style?

Leather and Lace

I love a bit of lace, it works no matter what the season or event but sometimes I feel like you can 'girly it up' a bit too much so I always like to add a touch of leather to give it an edge.

And I can never say no to a gladiator sandal..

Summer Jumpers

I was hoping to have had two style posts up this week but I've had a VERY swollen foot to the point where I couldn't get much more than flip flops on and I couldn't stand properly, so sadly there will be no close up of my shoes in this post but fear not, as my new favourite, they will be featured very soon!! Instead, you got a cake recipe!!

Classic British weather has been a bit up and down lately, one day its boiling hot, reaching the 40's in the mid day sun, and another it's bitter winds and downpours!
Today the sun was shining, but it wasn't as warm as some days have been, so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to bring out a summer jumper. The sleeves are shorter and the material is lighter but it still gives me some protection from this confusing weather! Perfect for the transitions between seasons and the chillier days!!

I Made Cake!!

I made cakeeee..

But you already know that, which is why you're probably here!!

I found this recipe in one of my Nanny's old cook books, and after a quick Google I discovered that this used to be a rather popular cake. Know as the 'Depression Cake' (such a catchy title), it was made during the Great Depression, when eggs, milk and butter were sparse, little did they know they had made a vegan cake.

After discovering the blog 'Deliciously Ella' and Beyonce's earth shattering announcement, I decided to jump on the band wagon and join in the vegan hype in an attempt to feel glorious and new again like everybody describes. The only way this was going to be possible was if I could still have my treats, which sparked my first EVER cooking post..

Just before I get into the recipe, I wanted to introduce you to my kitchens new BFF.
Tala is a company which has been around for yonks but I never knew there was a magical instrument called the 'Cooks Measure'..

Not only has it got numerous different measures but it also gives you the quantities for your common kitchen ingredients.

If you're wanting to save yourself massive amounts of time then pick ourself up one of these buddies!
(I got mine from Robert Dyas!)

On to the recipe:

Preheat the oven to 350F / 180C / Gas Mark 4.

I will just add before we begin that I made a major mistake here, the recipe states to 'grease the tin' (you mix everything in it) I thought I was being majorly smart by lining the tin making it easier once its cooked but it does NOT make it easier when mixing, everything went under the paper - what a mare - so please grease the tin!!

Grease a tin 8x8inch (my tin was slightly narrower and longer and created a thinner cake buttt you can always bulk it up with icing!!).

Into the tin add:
190g all purpose flour
200g granulated sugar
3 tbsp. cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix it. Mix it.

(It looks like a pregnant woman's been laying in the sand.. haha)
You need to make two small indentations and one big one!

You need:
5 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1tsp white vinegar

Add the vanilla to one small hole, the vinegar to the other and oil to the final large hole.
Cover the whole thing with 235 ml of water.

And again mix it!
Place in the middle of the oven for about 35 minutes.

Ta dahhh.

I decided to cover mine simply with icing sugar, bit of vaniall essence and water to make a paste you can 'flick?'

Let me know if you give them a try!
And if you do, make sure you send me a picture on twitter!

Bardot Tops

For years I've avoided boob tube/bandeau tops. Lacking in the boob department, I feel like I can't keep them up and they just pull what I do have, down. Mixed with wide hips, they do nothing for my shape apart from making me want to cover up!

But now I've bought myself a bardot top..
It might not seem that two small pieces of fabric could make a difference, but having wide hips, it balances them out with my top half and gives me the hour glass look that most women crave.

Buying for your shape is such an important factor when shopping, it can make such a big difference to yourself and your style!

If you're not sure what you're doing then send your questions my way and I'll do my best to help or have a google, you'll be surprised how much you might find!!

Eager eyed? Does my ring look familiar? You can find it on my recent Lyla Loves wishlist with some other pieces!

Obsessed with Khaki

What is it with Khaki? I'm obsessed!
I have tops, jeans, shorts, now a playsuit and I recently even bought fabric to make a khaki skirt with!

I think its a neutral, that's not actually a neutral..
It goes with so much that I struggle to find things it doesn't go with.
If you're ever searching for a canvas you can throw some colour on and are fed up with your usual black and white then give khaki a go and see what you get!

Charity Shop OOTD from Pauper to Princess (Guest Post)

Hi everyone! Lovely to meet you. Georgette and I are doing a blog swap today so I'm going to be sharing a head to toe charity shop outfit with you!!

I'm Louise and my blog is Pauper to Princess - it's a fashion blog all about second hand clothes and bargain finds! I hope you'll check it out and let me know your comments.

You can see Georgette's gorgeous second hand outfit on my blog today, but in the meantime, I thought I would share a little summer party outfit with you. I like to try and wear all my clothes all year round so I didn't want to see this adorable leather mini confined to the wardrobe just because it's summer! I paired it with a silk cami to keep cool, and some nice summery tan sandals. I hope you like it!!

Happy thrifting xoxo

Wishlist: Lyla Loves

This is the first of many wish lists on Forever Styling.

Every couple of weeks I will be dedicating this space to a firm favourite or a new found love.
More often than not what you find here will probably end up in future outfit posts as I'm sure my desire for shiny new things will get the better of me (and my bank balance)!!

To kick this off, I give you Lyla Loves..

This brand hasn't been on my radar for long but I had a look, found some pieces I liked, was blown away by the prices and now I'm buying all the things!!
My favourite pieces are linked below, surprisingly I mainly chose industrial type pieces but there's always got to be a bit of sparkle thrown in!

Recently I had been steering towards more delicate stackable rings but I feel like its time for a change, and to get out the big guns! I love that the ring is an open structure so you can still get the wow factor without too much metal, it creates the impact without weighing down your fingers!

Who wants regular cubes when you can go geometric! I love the steel grey of these earrings, it works perfectly with the simplicity of the shape. The dimension adds the interest without making them too loud. When I first saw these they reminded me of the hanging earrings of another trend, creating a statement piece (did anyone else notice that?), I don't know if I could pull it off but I would love to give it a try!

I have been seeing these ear jackets pop up everywhere recently and they've always intrigued me, I love the fact you can mix and match your earrings and spice things up when you fancy a change!
For me I am allergic to any earrings which aren't solid silver, gold or titanium (boo) but the wonder of these is it doesn't stop me from blinging up my ear lobe as I can slip one of my own in and I'm ready to party!!

This is the perfect stackable bracelet, simple and cute it adds a hint of gold, or invest in multiple to pile them on for the full on festival vibe!

Although this bracelet is technically quite simple, it holds its own and still has enough presence to make an impact on your outfit! It would work perfectly to harden up a more delicate outfit and give it a slightly grungier edge!
