Little Life Update

Back in January with my outlook on the new year I was determined to resolve some issues in 2016. The biggest of which was my health. I'll be the first to admit I didn't throw myself into that one as whole heartedly as I should have but after weeks of acute migraines and constant tiredness I decided one last bid for the doctors to find a reasoning. Fast forward and two weeks later when I get my blood tests results, I was told there's nothing out of the ordinary, and I was out the door.

Diet is such a powerful influence on your body and your health that its been the area I've been focused on but I clearly wasn't getting something right so I decided to try Kinesiology.

I know its not everyone's cup of tea and I'm expecting some kind of reaction to putting this on the internet, but it makes an awful lot of sense for me. Kinesiology works by measuring the strength or weakness of your body when interacting with foods, food groups, vitamins, minerals and pollutants. For me, my reactions were to dairy, yeast, mushrooms, bananas, tomatoes, oranges and egg whites.

Experiencing repulsive after tastes with dairy I have been a strong almond milk and soya yoghurt lover for a long time, so apart from steering clear of my beloved cheese toasties this one will be easy! Dairy is a main suspect in my migraines and digestive issues.

Having digestive issues for years I've always presumed gluten had been my problem, but after noticing I was still having difficulties after being completely gluten free I was lost, yeast hadn't even entered my mind. I'm now going to have to get my bake on as wraps and soda bread are the only bread products I'll be having! Yeast is again linked to digestive issues.

The next four are the upsetting ones. I love fruit, and if I could, I would live off it. Vegetables I'm not as big a fan, but mushrooms and tomatoes are delicious!
Mushrooms are part of the yeast family whereas the other three have been linked to migraines.
Egg whites is an odd one as I like the white and hate the yolk but they aren't a massive staple in my diet so that's no problem.

I started my new meal plan on Sunday, and as I found dinner the hardest meal to organise, I wanted to share the recipes I loved.
A couple of these do have some dairy add ons, such as cheese on top but I skipped these bits and they were still absolutely delicious!

Vegan Lasagne - 86 Lemons
Butternut Squash Pasta Sauce - Two Peas & Their Pod
Summertime Basil Chicken Curry - Half Baked Harvest
Lentil Chilli - Little Broken
Chilli Lime Fajita Chicken Salad - Cafe Delites
Sun-Dried Tomato Chicken - My Natural Family

Over the next few weeks and months I'm going to post updates about what I'm eating and how I'm feeling in a hope that if someone else feels like they're stuck in a hole this might just be the rope they need to get out!
